At Videndum, our products depend on a reliable and responsive supply chain. We are looking for an experienced Buyer to join our Operations team in Cartago, Costa Rica.
In this role, you will be responsible for sourcing, negotiating, and purchasing the materials, components, and services required to support manufacturing operations.
You will work closely with suppliers and internal teams to ensure materials are available when needed while maintaining appropriate standards for cost, quality, and delivery. The Buyer also plays an important role in supporting production continuity, new product introductions, project transfers, supplier performance, and cost-reduction initiatives.
What You’ll Do
Purchasing & Supplier Management
Source and evaluate suppliers for raw materials, components, and services required for manufacturing.
Issue and manage purchase orders based on production requirements and inventory levels.
Negotiate pricing, payment terms, and delivery schedules with suppliers.
Monitor supplier performance related to quality, cost, and on-time delivery.
Build and maintain effective working relationships with suppliers.
Track and resolve supplier-related issues involving delays, shortages, or quality concerns.
Assist with supplier audits, evaluations, and continuous-improvement activities.
Manufacturing & Supply Chain Support
Coordinate with Production Planning, Engineering, Quality, and Logistics teams to ensure material availability.
Support manufacturing operations by helping maintain continuity of supply.
Provide purchasing support for New Product Introductions (NPIs) and project transfers.
Identify and respond to material shortages or supply-chain risks that could affect production.
Work collaboratively across functions to resolve purchasing and material-related issues.
Cost Management & Continuous Improvement
Support cost-reduction initiatives through supplier negotiations and alternative sourcing strategies.
Identify opportunities to improve purchasing efficiency and supplier performance.
Assist with evaluating alternative suppliers, materials, or sourcing strategies when appropriate.
Support continuous-improvement efforts across procurement and supplier-management processes.
Procurement Systems & Compliance
Maintain accurate purchasing and procurement records.
Create and update information within ERP/MRP systems.
Ensure purchasing activities comply with company procurement policies and procedures.
Maintain accurate and timely documentation related to suppliers, purchase orders, and procurement activity.
What We’re Looking For
Required Skills & Experience
2–5 years of experience in purchasing or procurement within a manufacturing environment.
Strong negotiation skills.
Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities.
Good understanding of supply-chain processes and inventory management.
Ability to work effectively with suppliers and internal cross-functional teams.
Strong written and verbal communication skills.
Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and procurement-related tools.
Good English communication skills with the ability to communicate effectively across the business.
Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Ability to manage multiple purchasing priorities while supporting changing production requirements.
Nice to Have
Experience using IFS or a similar ERP/MRP system.
Experience with international sourcing and supplier management.
Knowledge of cost analysis.
Knowledge of contract management.
Experience supporting new product introductions or manufacturing project transfers.
Education & Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Industrial Engineering, or a related field required.
Work Environment
This is a full-time position based in Cartago, Costa Rica, supporting manufacturing and operational activities.
The position works closely with Production Planning, Engineering, Quality, Logistics, suppliers, and other business functions to maintain material availability and support manufacturing requirements.
The standard schedule for this role is 48 hours per week.
