What will I be doing?
Teradek is seeking a Sales Engineer – Public Safety and Defense to work closely with the Sales, Marketing, and Product Development teams to provide our customers with tailored solutions to meet their needs. This role participates in technical sales, demonstrations, and support of the Teradek family of Encoders, Decoders, Wireless Transport devices, and cloud based software solutions. Additionally, this role plays a key role in influencing product development.
The Sales Engineer – Public Safety and Defense position reports to the Director of Sales for Public Safety & Defense. This opportunity is well suited for an entrepreneurial technologist who enjoys interacting with customers, has a healthy sense of adventure, and enjoys traveling.
This position is eligible for 100% remote work depending on location.

A typical day might include the following
Provide pre- and post-sales technical support including system planning, customer training, system optimization, etc.
Become an expert on the operation and application of Teradek’s solutions and its advantages over competing technologies.
Prepare and conduct product demonstrations for customer visits and equipment evaluations.
Visit customer sites to provide technical support and deliver training.
Troubleshoot failures and abnormal situations in the field.
Collect and analyze field failures and abnormalities and provide feedback to the development and engineering teams.
Help the Engineering reproduce and troubleshoot problems.
Participate in resource allocation and hardware maintenance to support different sales and business development activities.
Help drive future product development.
Perform other related duties of which the above are representative.
Travel requirements – 50%; frequent travel for meetings, events, and demonstrations.
Qualified candidates must have
Bachelor’s degree in a technical field preferred; and at least 6 years of practical technical experience in Public Safety and / or Defense.
Proficiency with radio frequency devices, networking technologies, cellular technologies, and video / audio.
Proficiency with Unmanned Systems – drones and robots.
Familiarity with surveillance aircraft and technologies, including Video Management Systems.
Proficiency in working with command buses, real-time crime centers and fusion centers.
Knowledgeable in SWAT and drone team tactics; work flow and command structure during major events.
Knowledgeable in the public safety grant writing process.
Willingness to travel and work at customer sites.
This position requires eligibility to obtain and maintain federal security clearance.

Preferred
Proficiency with TCP/IP protocol and networking.
Experience with operating and testing IP radios/modems.
Knowledge of wireless communication systems, radio frequency signal propagation, and digital communication technologies.
Excellent organization skills and attention to detail.
Demonstrated written and verbal communication skills.
Team training background
Working Conditions and Physical Requirements
Trade shows.
Outdoor environment for demonstrations, including rooftops.
Willingness to fly in public safety helicopters and small fixed wing aircraft.
Willingness to go on small public safety marine craft; ability to swim.
Occasional exposure to heat, cold, and allergens while performing tests or demonstrations in the field.
Lift equipment up to 50 lbs. for the set-up of demonstrations and testing.
