General Ledger Accountant
Role Summary:
This role is part of a global team, ensuring the data integrity as it is recorded in the general ledger monthly. It will support activities related to Closing, General Accounting, Audit, Financial Reporting, compliance and tax filings. Assist with financial information by researching, reconciling, and analyzing account balances. Prepare journal entries and financial reports in accordance with accounting standards as part of a two-day closing cycle. Generate accurate and timely financial information. Maintain effective internal controls to ensure accurate reporting of financial results. Provide precise and timely information that supports Finance team members and ensure the integrity of the data in the general ledger. This includes the proper recording of monthly closing, journal entries and other tasks as assigned. This position will work closely with other departments, perform balance sheet reconciliations, and support the development and maintenance of Accounting Policies and Practices towards strengthening financial and operational controls.
Main Responsibilities and Tasks:
Fixed asset accounting assistant – Finance support
- Maintain and reconcile general ledger accounts to ensure accuracy and compliance with accounting standards.
- Post journal entries for accruals, prepayments, and other financial transactions.
- Prepare and analyze financial reports and ensure timely submission.
- Reconciling all accounts to ensure their accuracy
- Conducting account analysis to ensure that entries and balances are correct.
- Preparing month-end, quarter-end, and year-end closing entries
- Assisting in the preparation of budgets and financial forecasts
- Coordinating with internal and external auditors during financial and operational audits
- Ensuring compliance with accounting principles, company procedures, and regulatory requirements
- Identifying and resolving discrepancies in financial entries, reports, and summaries
- Assisting in the development and implementation of accounting systems, policies, and procedures
- Work closely with accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll teams to ensure accurate financial reporting.
- Liaise with other departments to resolve accounting-related issues.
- Monthly reconciliation of assigned balance sheet accounts or sub-systems to the general ledger.
- Ensure adequate internal accounting and operating controls are in place to provide accurate financial information for management decision making.
- Perform other duties and responsibilities assigned by supervisor.

Knowledge and Skills:
Essential:
- Working knowledge of accounting systems, ERP; strong computing skills (Microsoft Office)
- Ability to communicate effectively and take ownership.
- Detail oriented with demonstrated analytical skills.
- Exposure to decision making and proactive attitude.
- Ability to understand company products, manufacturing operations, distribution and retail organization.
- Team player with the ability to work independently and unsupervised as required.
- Adaptable and able to work within deadlines.
Desirable:
- Experience in multinational companies, preferably within the free zone regime.
- IFS or other ERP systems.
Education and Qualifications:
Essential:
- Bachelor’s Degree preferably in Accounting/Finance
- 2+ year experience in Accounts Payable
- Strong Excel skills with knowledge of Pivot tables and other formulas.
